As a Seattle wedding photographer, capturing the perfect moment is everything. Whether it’s the first kiss, dance, or laugh, I need the right equipment to capture every detail with precision and clarity. So what are my must-haves for shooting unforgettable weddings? Camera Bodies

Nikon Z6II

The most important piece of equipment in my kit is, without a doubt, the camera body. For weddings, I use two Nikon Z6II cameras. Having two camera bodies ensures that I have a backup if anything goes wrong and allows me to quickly switch between lenses while still shooting.

The Nikon Z6II is a great choice for wedding photography. It has impressive low-light autofocus that can find your subject even in dimly lit environments, making it perfect for shooting ceremonies late into the night. In addition, the Z6II also comes with dual-slot SD card holders. This allows me to back up my photos while shooting, giving me peace of mind if one of the cards fails. Lenses

With my Nikon Z6II cameras, I use a selection of lenses depending on the situation. My go-to lenses are the Nikon 35 1.8mm, the Nikon 17-28 2.8mm, the Nikon 105 2.8mm, and the Nikon 70-200 2.8mm zoom lens.

The 35 1.8mm is great for capturing wide-angle shots that are perfect for documenting a Seattle wedding from start to finish. At the same time, the 17-28 2.8mm lens helps in creative storytelling with its ability to capture candid close-up moments and dramatic detail shots. I also love to use my Nikon 105 2.8mm lens for portrait shots, as the compression creates a beautiful bokeh effect. However, my favorite is the Nikon 70-200 2.8mm zoom lens, which allows me to capture stunning close-ups from afar without losing any of the background’s details.

Other Essentials

In addition to my camera bodies and lenses, there are a few other must-have items in my wedding photography bag. These include 5 external flashes, a strobe, extra batteries, memory cards, lens filters, a light reflector, and a tripod.

Extra batteries and memory cards are essential for any Seattle wedding photographer as they allow me to keep shooting without stopping or missing out on any of the moments I’m capturing. Lens filters are also great for controlling the amount of light that enters my lenses and creating special effects, such as an ND filter to capture a dreamy look in bright Seattle sunsets. A tripod is a must-have for capturing those sharp and steady shots, especially for long exposures or group shots. Finally, a light reflector is a great way to create soft and even lighting without having to use additional lighting.
