5 Outfit Ideas For Your Engagement Session

My Blog

Deciding what to wear in general is hard enough, am I right? So, deciding what to wear for something as important as your engagement session can definitely be a challenge. I mean these are the pictures that are going to be revolving around your wedding, as save-the-dates, maybe a wedding website, possibly as wedding decor. That means it’s very important to have outfits that match your style and personality perfectly.

In this blog post, I will be sharing some of my tips on how to pick out the most perfect outfits for your style and comfort. Also, I will let you know what colors work the best in my photography if we’re taking your engagement pictures together!

Wear Clothes That Are The Most You

It’s very important that you wear whatever makes you and your partner feel the most yourselves. If you are jeans and a t-shirt type of couple, then there’s no reason for you two to get all fancy with a dress and suit. Picking outfits that are out of both of your styles could end up making you feel and, therefore, look awkward in your pictures.

Compliment Each Other On Engagement Session

Complimenting your partner’s look is the way to go, matching each other is not. Sometimes when you match each other completely, with colors or prints, it can make the pictures look busy, have aspects of one of you get lost, or look a little tacky. So, when picking out you and your partner’s outfits look for complementary colors and solid prints.

Choose Light Colors, Pastels, and Neutral Tones

This tip is for everyone but especially the people who are hiring Lessie Blue Photography to take their engagement pictures. Wearing light colors and soft pastel clothing works incredibly well with my photography style. These types of clothing look well in almost any pictures though, so if you take anything away from this blog post, let it be this one!

Wear At Least One Accessory

I love it when women incorporate some accessories into their looks. It adds a nice element of style and gives a little extra to their outfit. I recommend not going overboard with the accessories though, maybe unless it really goes with the style of outfit you are wearing. Earrings are a total must for me and there is really no upkeep with them, necklaces can sometimes be a hassle if they keep spinning around your neck and showing the clasp. But of course, wear whatever you like just be sure it compliments your outfit in the right way!

Stick With Two Outfits

Two outfits are more than enough to reflect your relationship’s personality. It also ensures you won’t spend so much extra time during your engagement session changing rather than taking the actual pictures. Having two different outfits gives you the opportunity to have one more casual outfit and then another one a little more dressy so that you get the best of both worlds!

I hope this blog post was able to help answer any questions or calm any nerves that you were having about the outfits for your engagement session. The most important thing is to wear something that you’re comfortable and confident in! If you do just that, I promise you your pictures will turn out beautifully.
